Litterally we were digging for gold
These are gold panning pans
After a couple of hours of sifting through the rocks and the sand someone finally told me that we weren't looking for rocks or pebbles but rather tiny flecks of gold!
I did a lot better after I knew what I was looking for. 
Oh Great! Hope you find lots of gold before you leave Alaska.
